Department of Urdu Head of the Department : Dr. Israil Raza Introduction : The Department of Urdu, in the Faculty of Humanities (P.U.)
is one of the oldest Departments of Urdu in the country. The first M.A. Urdu
examination of the Department was held in 1930 with non-Collegiate students.
Dr. Azimuddin Ahmad an eminent scholar of Arabic,

and inadequate facilities the interests of research scholars are not
satisfactorily fulfiled. As far as the thrust area
of Research is concerned, relationship of Urdu with local dialects as well as
with other languages and literatures must be brought to light. Current
problems of man and life pictures in Urdu literature should also be studied.
