Patna University Press is functioning as a department Press of Patna
University. It works for the University and its allied departments etc. The
Patna University Press prints confidential documents like Degrees, Diplomas,
Provisional and Emigration Certificates, Tabulation Registers, Syllabus.
Admission and Examination forms Question setting forms and manufacturing of
Answer Books copies etc., which can not be done in the private Presses from
security point of view. Besides this, Minutes of Senate, Telephone Directory,
V. C. & Budget speech different kinds of Registers are being printed in
this Press. The P.
U. Press has got mainly three sections: Firstly, Composing Section, secondly
Printing section and thirdly Binding section. In the Printing section there
are two stop cylinder Machines and one Platen Machine. The capacity of the
printing section is enough to meet the additional printing demand of University
but capacity of the Composing section is very limited. There are always
bottleneck in this section because of inadequate staff. Most of the employees
from the Composing section has been retired. It is
therefore necessary to strengthen the Composing section in order to maintain
equilibrium between sections. One unit
os monokeyboard and
Casting Machine has been repaired time to time and it is still in working
condition. But after retirement of Mono Operator and Monor
Caster, these machines are lying idle. At present, only casting machine is
working which has been operated by Sr. Caster. it is
necessary to fill up the posts. The P.
U. Press needs expansion as that it can undertake work from D.D.E. to make
the P. U. Press more viable. Appointments of Compositors and other vacant
posts are essential. |
