Brief Profile: The Department of Arabic is located in the Darbhanga House. It was started in 1952. It imparts the Honours and P. G. teaching in Arabic and provides guidance for advance Research in Arabic Language, Literature and Islamic Studies. It also provides good materials for cultural and social understanding between India and West Asian countries.

Part time teachers

As the teaching in P. G. and U. G. Clases is integrated teachers from Patna College assist as part time teachers. Similar the P. G. Department teacher also take U. G. Classes. But at present there is only one hand in the Dept. of Arabic, Patna College, we feel much difficulty to manage the classes by the teacher of Patna College. Hence a hand is urgently needed for the time being.

Course of Studies: The new syllabus prepared under the guide line of U.G.C. has been introduced in M.A., Arabic, Part-I (Eight papers) & Part-II (Eight papers).

Research guidance: It is regular routine work of the Dept. to supervise and guide to research work of the Dept. supervisor guide to Research Scholars.

Literary Society: There is an Arabic Society in the Dept. namely “Al-Lajna Al - Arabic.” The main object of this Society is to provide opportunities to the students for training in spoken and written Arabic. The Society also arranged meeting and discussions on the subject connected with Arabic language and literature.

Visit and Participation: Dr. Sarwar Alam, the second man of the Dept. participated in a two day All India Seminar organised by the Dept. of Arabic A.M.U. Aligarh and contributed a paper on “Development of Arabic Journalism in India.” And also participated in a three days international seminar organised by the Dept. of Arabic cefeal Hyderabad and contributed a paper on Sadi Shirazi as a Arabic Poet.

         Publication: Some research articles essays by the Head are under process to be published shortly.

Present Need :

         The appointment of two teaching hand at least two lectures basis is the urgent need of the Dept.

         Two Class rooms & a particular room to the Departmental library with a librarian.

         Financial aid for purchasing of Lingua phone & Arabic teaching courses complete set for Arabic Society of the Dept.

         Introduction of Computer Courses of Arabic Language with a view to prepare students for golden opportunities in the present day world.

         It is the most urgent need to appoint a permanent hand as Computer Operator.
